German Team on Mission: Summer2go in Malawi & South Africa

In February, a team from Germany, led by Jonathan and joined by Cornelius, Johann and Willi, traveled to Malawi and South Africa to serve alongside local churches and support Summer2go, a youth outreach originally birthed in Germany. What unfolded over those days was a beautiful reminder: Jesus is the same in Africa as He is in Europe and the Holy Spirit still moves in power today.

A Rainbow Welcome & a Divine Detour

The team safely arrived in Malawi and were greeted by a stunning rainbow as their plane descended, a small but powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness.

The journey from Lilongwe to Dedza, however, was anything but smooth. Pothole-filled roads led to a flat tire in a small village. Yet what seemed like an inconvenience turned into divine appointment. While the tire was being repaired, local young men gathered around. Conversations began. The Gospel was shared. And several of them gave their lives to Jesus.

God truly uses everything, even a breakdown on the side of the road, for His glory.

Summer2go Malawi: Training & Activation

For three days, around 100 young people, mostly teenagers and young adults, gathered to be trained in sharing the love of Christ. Mornings were filled with teaching. Afternoons were spent putting faith into action: going out in pairs, stepping into conversations, praying for people, and boldly sharing the Gospel.

Over 600 people were reached through personal conversations during those days alone. Many made decisions to follow Jesus. Several testified of healing, including a man who had suffered numbness in his feet for four years and was instantly restored after prayer. The joy was overwhelming.

A Hospital Encounter That Changed a Family

Outside of the Summer2go gatherings, the German team visited different places, including a local hospital. There they met an 11-year-old boy who had attempted to take his life the day before.

They shared with him about the life and hope found in Christ. He chose to give his life to Jesus.

Two days later, his mother called to express her gratitude. Today, the whole family is connected to a local pastor. What the enemy meant for destruction, God turned into restoration.

Unity in the Churches

Summer2go in Malawi was organized and carried by GO Movement Malawi, working hand in hand with local churches. On Sunday afternoon, 25 young people returned, each bringing four more friends. Fifteen pastors joined as well. Space had been limited during the main training days, but hunger for more was evident.

Something broke open in Malawi. There was both a deep willingness among believers to share the Gospel and a remarkable openness among those who heard it.

Health Challenges & God’s Faithfulness

During the outreach, one team member fell ill with severe stomach issues. The team asked for prayer and God answered. Within days, he was recovering and regaining strength. Through it all, the team experienced God’s protection over their families back home and His sustaining grace on the field.

Summer2go South Africa: Boldness Multiplied

After Malawi, the mission continued in South Africa, where another Summer2go was launched. Willi joined the team from Berlin, and together they trained believers at two locations over several days.

Again, teaching in the mornings. Outreach in the afternoons.

Stories followed every day:

  • A woman healed from four years of chronic knee pain – completely pain-free even days later.
  • A participant who prayed for a woman suffering from 60 days of continuous bleeding and five days later, the bleeding had completely stopped.
  • Countless people encountering Jesus in streets and neighborhoods.

After each outreach, the teams gathered to share testimonies, give thanks, and celebrate what God had done.

The Gospel on the Airwaves

In South Africa, Jonathan was invited to share the Gospel on a local radio station for 30 minutes. Around 11,000 listeners tuned in as the message of Jesus was proclaimed and prayer was offered for the sick.

The seed of the Gospel was sown far beyond what the eye could see.

A Clear Message for Us All

One powerful truth marked this entire journey: Jesus is the same in Africa as He is in Europe.

He heals.
He restores.
He saves.
He sends.

We are reminded that evangelism is not reserved for a few. Through training, unity, and simple obedience, ordinary believers stepped into boldness and saw God move.

As the team flew back to Berlin, their hearts were full of gratitude. Gratitude for every prayer that carried them. Gratitude for every life touched. Gratitude for the privilege of being part of what God is doing among the nations.

And the invitation remains for all of us:

Be a blessing where you are.
Share the Gospel at your workplace, in your family, in your neighborhood.
Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you.

Because when believers step out in faith, heaven moves.

With love from Jonathan and the team.
